While searching for inspiration, I found myself drawn to picture ledges that were black and minimal. I found this picture ledge and decided to buy two in order to have it run the length of the couch.
Styling the picture ledge is the fun part! The options are endless – the ledge is your oyster! Here is how I styled our picture ledge for spring/summer using only 2 new items! Andddd… they were under $10 in total! Everything else I restyled or repurposed from around our home. Take a peek and let me know what you think!
Here is what the picture ledge looked like for fall/winter! I used my favourite forest art that gives me all the moody vibes. The home sign was the focal point with everything else built around it.

For spring/summer, I used a lot of the same pieces but tried to layer them differently. I took away a couple of pieces and added fresh greenery to the new $10 pots! Different from the fall/winter styling, I wanted the home sign to be a little off-centered this time! I also added one of my favourite thrifted art pieces to replace the moody forest (I’ll see you in the fall, cutie!).

Here are some simple tips for styling your own picture ledge!
Include artwork and photos that are meaningful to you! Your space won’t feel like yours unless you decorate in a way that mirrors your own personal style and taste.

Try to mix and match frame colours, size and orientation. Your picture ledge will be more visually interesting if you use 2 or 3 different frame colours that compliment one another. The same goes for alternating the size and orientation of your frames to make it more pleasing to the eye.

To create a “collected overtime” look, include a combination of personal photos, artwork and word art. Bonus points if each piece holds sentimental value (psst: “I thrifted this” counts as sentimental because YOU found it!).

Add in non-art! Things like greenery from the garden, house plants or decor items with interesting shapes and/or natural texture. This styling touch gives the picture ledge its final OOMPH (for lack of better description haha).

There you have it! I love how a picture ledge allows you to switch things up between seasons (and as the mood strikes!). No commitment issues here!
